Day trip to New Orleans

We had some time to kill before the wedding, so we ventured off to New Orleans. First stop: The Aquarium.

Simon loved it. He'd point at every fish.

He'd even try for a closer look.

He was a big fan of the hammerhead sharks as well.

Afterwards, he got his first taste of gumbo at Mother's. Dang tasty.

Vacherie Pt. 1

I love going to Vacherie. Love visiting Erinn's family. Love eating the food. Hate that we had to go the day after LSU beat Texas for the baseball National Championship. I expected to get more flak about it.

This was the first trip without a place to stay now that Erinn's grandparents have passed. So we all scrambled a bit to find a place. Thibodaux is the closest city with motels, but we were lucky to find a B&B/ cottage on a farm right in Vacherie. Here's a look at where we stayed:

Obviously, Simon made himself right at home with his milk.

Looking off the front porch.

Cane. Everywhere.

Bayou. Everywhere else.

No more swim lessons

Simon's now ready for the big time. He told me he's going to start growing a stache "just like all the greats. You know... Spitz, Phelps and Selleck." Couldn't agree more.

I either got a haircut between week one and two, or there's too much chlorine in the pool.

Mommy and Me

We are getting behind, so I thought I'd help Andrew out and post. Simon's a busy boy lately. In the past week he had his first music class, went on a "field trip" to Pioneer Farms with one of his three Henry friends, celebrated Mama and Daddy's fifth anniversary with a little outing to the Wildflower Center (where we had our wedding reception), and had his first swimming lesson. Now let's see if I remember how to post pictures...

Super Simon

Simon took in his first Texas game tonight at game 2 of the Super Regional against TCU. He's the reason we lost - He won't be returning for the rubber match tomorrow.... mainly because we'll be at swim lessons.

Back from Port A

Simon got his second taste of the beach this weekend exactly one year after his first.

We made it a little further into the water than last year at Huntington Beach. Simon was a little scared at first, but after jumping a few waves he was right at home.

Simon and Erinn build a sandcas... are you looking at his gut? You were looking at his gut... Fortunately, I have the ability to not post pictures of my gut.

No, not the sunset. Simon's routine was way out of whack, getting up at 4:30. This was the sunrise on the morning of day 2.
