Los Angeles

We made our escape to LA just as the temperature in Austin climbed over 100 degrees.  We made it a dual visit, going to a friends wedding and seeing friends.

Waiting to board the plane in Austin.

First stop, Alhambra park to soak up the 72 degree day.  We met Katie and baby Evan here to let Simon run off the energy he had built up when I wouldn't let him kick the chair in front of him on the plane.

Simon declared this the hen house, with the barn just around the corner.

Dinner at Casa Bianca.  Good as always.

Erinn had lunch at Lovebirds the next day with her Northrup friends.  Simon ate his PBJ in his usual unconventional way.

Sadly we didn't take any pictures from the wedding.  Here's where you see me and Erinn dressed up.

Photobucket
Dodgers game the next day.  They put on a small ball clinic for the Nationals.

Of course Simon only cared about the ice cream... and dodger dogs and peanuts and chips and pretzels and...

Photobucket
Had dinner that evening with Katie and Ben and Evan to celebrate Erinn's 30th Birthday and their anniversary.

Tuckered out.

Our final day was spent on the beach in Santa Monica.  We weren't really prepared for beach going, but when it's 65 and breezy, the ocean isn't that inviting.

Moving truck comes tomorrow

Must be Italian.

Slackers. Neither lifted a finger to help us.

I swung by Trader Joes to pick up some boxes by their dumpster. It wasn't until I got home that I realized Dan is probably upset. Sorry Dan, whoever you are.

Let's hope all this fits.

Last In-N-Out?

We had what could be our last In-n-Out today. I won't say it's our last, because we might pick one up on our way to the airport next week. It was tremendous as always.

Look at that grease trying to get out of the bag. Fantastic.

Three burgers?

Here's why I got three. On the burger wrapper is Revelation 3:20. I looked it up and it says
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me”
So I got the third for JC in case he was going to stop by. Unfortunately by the time he showed up, I was halfway through the burger. I gave him some fries instead.

Never before have I wanted to eat a receipt. Until now.

We made Drudge!

The fuzz must not have heard me watching the Nebraska game on Tuesday. When you hear me describe South Pas as a small town, this is just one of the reasons. So close to LA, yet so far away.

South Pas is not on fire

But it does smell like there's always a barbecue going on somewhere, so that's a bonus.

The ch'i in our bedroom is, like, totally off man...

Apparently the energy in our room isn't balanced. According to Ellen Whitehurst, a feng shui consultant, the location of your bed is extremely important in getting a good night's rest. I found this in Natural Health:
The goal is to balance the energy in your bedroom so you can relax - to do this, start by placing the head of your bed against a wall, which will give you the feeling of stability. But don't put your bed in a corner. "Leave space on both sides of your bed so energy can circle freely around you," says Whitehurst.
As you can see, we've got a gaping area in the middle of our room where all the energy has no where to go.

But wait, there's more:
If possible, move your bed so you can see your door without being directly across from it- or in front of a window. This arrangement, called "The Command Position," will subconsciously make you feel more secure by allowing you to see who is coming into your room without being startled.
Honestly, if anyone other than Erinn is coming into our bedroom, door position really won't make that much of a difference as to how "startled" I am.

Coyotes in da hood

Coyotes? In Los Angeles? There are several of these signs around our neighborhood. I pity the coyote that goes mano-e-mano with Callie. She'll tear that guy apart. We'll be eating coyote for weeks.
