Big Boy Dog Bed

Erinn posting...we recently bought Simon a twin mattress and placed it on the floor of what will become his "big boy room" over the next couple of months so that he can gradually get use to it by playing in the room, taking naps in there, etc. While it may take Simon a few months, it only took Callie a few hours...

 

 

and yes, I know I still need outlet covers in the room. I wouldn't want Callie to get shocked.

Christmas Morning

Simon got us up all nice and early. Not because he knew Santa came, but because he's seven-and-a-half months old and that's his thing. Erinn and I asked Santa for a full night's sleep, but alas, he didn't deliver.

Simon opens his first gift. Predictably, he's more interested in the tag and wrapping paper.

Callie got to go to the lake the other day. She battled the waves for hours. But in the end, Lake Austin's never ending waves proved victorious.

A month old and some change

Callie loves it when Simon poops n' farts. Whenever she hears him rip one, she'll run over and smell what's going on. Just another of life's simple pleasures I suppose.

Erinn, don't worry. I pushed Callie away before she could lick his face.

Despite the rumors, Callie is not neglected.

Nesting

My maternity leave officially began Monday and I have been nesting this week. As you can see, Callie is having a hard time understanding these things are not for her. Sure hope the baby isn't allergic to dogs. As Andrew said awhile back, "It would be sad if the baby had to start sleeping outside." We have finished lamaze and so now the counting begins...2 more weeks.

Christmas in Austin

We're back from another great visit.

My first attempt making tamales. Good thing there weren't any abuelitas watching me. I used shortening and butter instead of manteca.

Two dozen black bean. Two dozen chicken verde. Without the lard, they came out dry. I learned my lesson.

One of my favorite things about the weekend is being woken by Callie. Unfortunately, during the week I get up before her.
